Objective:

  • To equip mechanical engineering students with theoretical and hands on knowledge in press tool design, focusing on tool development for sheet metal forming operations. The internship prepares students to design, analyze, and develop tools used in mass production across automotive, appliance, and metal fabrication industries.
  • To train mechanical engineering students in the fundamentals and practical aspects of press tool design used in sheet metal component manufacturing.

  • Basics of Press Tool & Sheet Metal Operations.
  • Types of Press Tools.
  • Tool Layout Design & Strip Layout Development.
  • Die & Punch Design Principles.
  • Material Selection for Tools.
  • Design Standards & Tolerances.
  • 2D & 3D Tool Design using CAD Software .
  • Assembly Drawing and BOM Preparation.

Outcomes:

  • In depth knowledge of press tool components and function.
  • Capability to design simple to intermediate press tools.
  • Industry ready skills for manufacturing and tool design roles.
  • Completion of a practical press tool design mini-project.

Certification:

  • Interns will receive a certificate after successful completion and submission of a press tool design assignment.
